Personal Background of Toby and Susan Johnson
Toby Johnson was born in 1975 in Cookeville, Tennessee, and was raised in Knoxville. He gave his heart and life to Christ at youth camp in the summer of 1990, and committed to full-time pastoral ministry as a sophomore in college, while a counselor at youth camp.
He graduated suma cum laude from the University of Memphis in 1997 and from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY in 2003.
Toby has served in pastoral ministry for the past 10 years in different roles, including Senior Pastor of Alta Loma Baptist Church near Nashville, Tennessee.
Susan was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, and she is described by her husband as “an incredible” wife, mother, homemaker and freelance photographer. She and Toby met in Nashville on a riverboat called the General Jackson, and were married 10 months later in 1998.
Toby and Susan have four children…
Caleb is 9 and is just beginning to learn the piano
Austin is 7 and loves to build just about anything
Emilie Grace is 4 and loves to read and play on the computer
Georgia is 3 and likes to do crafty things and fix Mom’s hair
